MARKETING COMPETITIONS FOR ALL SCHOOLS
Gain recognition to expand and reward your team's marketing efforts by entering into these competitions.

Last month I wrote a blog that listed a few school marketing competitions – but entry to them was limited to private schools! If you’re a state-run school and are producing great marketing work, here are four ideas to achieve recognition for your work.

1. Look for marketing opportunities in local school awards

Here in Manchester, the Manchester Evening News runs the annual Greater Manchester Schools Awards. One of the categories is the ‘School Communication Award’ – a clear place for marketing activity.

2. Be creative with national teaching awards
Awards such as the UK’s national TES Awards don’t obviously have a marketing category, but if your school is meeting its marketing objectives you might be able to enter the ‘Community and Collaboration Award’. Or if the strategy is being led by the Business Manager, what about ‘Business Manager of the Year’? Try this list of UK Education Awards – do any others match with your work?

3. Look for opportunities in wider business awards
The Birmingham Awards have categories for social media and marketing campaigns – as well as opportunities to showcase a school radio or TV station! What similar opportunities exist in your community?

4. Try winning a whole marketing industry award!
Competition is fierce for awards such as the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards, but there’s at least one school represented among the 2020 finalists. There’s also the PR Week Awards for media relations and many more!
